Our most mature Lowlands collection brings together three long-aged single grain whiskies, including releases from the closed Dumbarton and Port Dundas distilleries alongside a 33-year-old North British. Each bottle has had decades to develop the silky texture, rich sweetness and layered oak character that make mature grain whisky so distinctive. This is a collection built around age, rarity and provenance, offering three very different expressions of Lowland grain whisky at 25 years and above. A serious tasting set for collectors, enthusiasts and lovers of old whisky.
Distilled on 5 February 1991, the North British 33 is a single-cask Auld Grain whisky released as part of a limited 182-bottle series. Bottled at 44% ABV in a 700ml format, it offers rich notes of crème brûlée and coconut with a smooth, unctuous texture. A distinctive older grain whisky and an exceptional choice for collectors, enthusiasts or gifting.
Distilled in 2000 at the now-closed Port Dundas Distillery, this 25-year-old Single Grain Scotch Whisky matured in a single hogshead, developing a rich, creamy and elegant character. Long maturation has brought notes of vanilla, coconut, polished oak and soft spice, while retaining the silky texture associated with well-aged grain whisky. Bottled at a natural cask strength of 51.7% ABV in a 500ml format, it is a distinctive release from one of Scotland’s historic grain distilleries.
Distilled in 2000 at the now-closed Dumbarton Distillery, this 25-year-old Single Grain Scotch Whisky matured in a hogshead cask. Once one of Scotland’s largest grain distilleries, Dumbarton closed in 2002, making well-aged single cask releases increasingly rare. This whisky shows the classic Dumbarton style, with an elegant, sweet and softly fruity character, a creamy texture and the depth that comes from long maturation. Bottled at 50.2% ABV in a 500ml format.

The Distilleries Behind Your Collection
North British Distillery
Founded in Edinburgh in 1885, North British was created by leading whisky merchants to break DCL’s dominance of Scotland’s grain whisky supply. Production began in 1887 using Coffey stills, and the distillery grew rapidly, becoming for a time the largest grain plant in Scotland. Its spirit has long been used in major blends including The Famous Grouse, Cutty Sark, Chivas Regal and J&B. Still operating in Gorgie today, North British remains one of Scotland’s most important grain whisky distilleries.
Port Dundas Distillery
Founded in Glasgow in 1811 beside the Forth & Clyde Canal, Port Dundas grew into one of Scotland’s most important grain distilleries and by the 1880s was the country’s largest. Using Coffey and pot stills, it produced whisky from corn, barley and rye, while the vast site also absorbed neighbouring Cowlairs and Dundashill. Despite major fires in 1903 and 1916, it repeatedly rebuilt and modernised. Production finally ended in 2011 when Diageo shifted grain whisky production to Cameronbridge, and the landmark site was demolished.
Dumbarton Distillery
Opened in 1938 on the banks of the River Leven, Dumbarton became Scotland’s largest continuous grain distillery of its time, producing whisky primarily for Ballantine’s. It stood apart for its American-style stainless-steel columns and heavier maize-based spirit. The site also housed Inverleven and Lomond distilleries and became famous for its “Scotch Watch” geese, introduced in 1959 to guard the warehouses. Dumbarton closed in 2002 and was later demolished, leaving surviving casks as part of Scotland’s lost whisky heritage.
